Handbags and beach bags
A range of handbags, shopping bags and beach bags, all handmade in Kenya. Some are from cotton kikois. This is the traditional ‘wrap’ or ‘sarong’ found in East African, and has been around for years. You will see them used by women and men, both practically and decoratively, and now a range of products is being made from them.
The others range of handbags are woven from sisal, and traditionally known as a kiondo.
Handbags and other bags
Some of the hand bags, shopping bags and beach bags are all made from kikois. The beach bags or shopping bags are large and capacious, so take them shopping or on a trip out to the beach or on a picnic. Each bag is fully lined with an inside pocket. The hand bags are also fully lined, with a pocket and a zip fastening, and look bright and cheerful in the summer sunshine. They are completed with a flower zip pull made from telephone wire in complementary colours. The woven sisal hand bags are in the style of the traditional Kenyan kiondos, but made special! These woven bags have been used in Kenya for many years, as they are so strong and practical. Now, some of the hand bags made for Bazaar Africa, have fully beaded handles and a bead clasp with velcro fastening. All are fully lined.
There are also some plainer kiondos, in natural coloured sisal, with leather handles.
