Kazuri earrings
Kazuri ceramic earrings
Here is the entire range of Kazuri earrings available from Bazaar Africa. Here you will find a large range of earrings, all hand made from pottery beads and highly glazed. The earrings are single or double drops, many patterned, some plain, with a few clip-on ones as well. Many match the other Kazuri products, so do look for a complete set. Browse our range of Kazuri earrings on offer at Bazaar Africa, and use the main menu to look at other earrings, or matching Kazuri bracelets and necklaces. All of them are hand crafted in East Africa.
Please be aware that as every single bead is made individually by hand, they are all very slightly different. The glaze often has a ‘crackled ‘ effect, as seen in some of the photos. This all adds to the charm, and shows them to be hand crafted
Original pottery glazed earring
These Kazuri bead earrings are made on the outskirts of Nairobi by Kenyan women. The Kazuri workshop started out as an experiment in making hand made beads. It soon found that they could provide employment to the local impoverished single mothers who were desperate for work and the rest, as they say, is history. All these beads are hand made from clay and individually hand painted in original colours and designs. “Kazuri” means small and beautiful in Swahili, and this is certainly what these items are. It is a joy to watch them being made, as the ladies sit around in the shade, making the beads from start to finish, fashioning them, painting them, piercing them, glazing them, firing them, and finally assembling them. They are made in an atmosphere of friendship and companionship, and the happy chatter is one of the lasting memories of the Kazuri production.
