Festival of Light at Longleat House
Went to see the fabulous Chinese lanterns at Longleat House’s Festival of light. Lord Weymouth brings Chinese experts over to set up this fantastic display of lanterns, which have been created by the Chinese. What they have created is a truly wonderful display, which shows up against the night sky.
The estate of Longleat is so large, that there is absolutely no other light pollution to distract from these coloured animals and flowers. As you can see, they did a great job of recreating these majestic African creatures. They were in party mode, as Longleat House and estate is celebrating 50 years since it started having African animals, and was then know as the ‘Lions of Longleat’. The first picture was representative of one of the first male lions to arrive at the stately home.
They were also celebrating Beatrix Potter’s 150th anniversary, and this display was at the front of the house. All of the well-loved animals were there, and here is a selection of them. The flowers and insects were also to honour Beatrix Potter, as her illustrations and paintings contained many of them.
